Hmmm today I will repost rules Signups Signups are in two phases. 1. Just tell me you want to sign up. Simple. This Step starts as soon as the @ everyone goes out. 2. I'll randomly place you as either a guard or a robber. The sign-ups criteria for both are as follows. Guards: Someone who has worked as a guard for someone or something before, OR someone who typically abides by the law. Thieves: Anyone who is a thief of some kind, OR someone who typically commits crimes. Both phases should last a maximum of 24. Objectives There are no personal objectives when signing up at first, but instead, they'll be a central objective for each player. Players will be divided into teams, a guard team and a robber team. Guards have to prevent the robbers from stealing the treasure and the robbers have to steal the treasure. Eventually after enough time has passed, players can choose to make a personal objective for themselves. It should be noted that because it's an objective made during during game, it is the players responsibility to make sure it is actually possible. There will be character abilities, and depending on the character or ability they have can lead to certain things being available only to them that can affect the game. Example, only some with computer knowledge can hack one. Player Count Originally I planned for a hard player cap of 20 with no NPCs with however after seeing what some people are saying I am unsure if this is the way to go. Because of this I am still enforcing the player cap but it will be more flexible depending on how many signups happen. NPCs instead are going to act as a neutral faction of people who happened to end up at the site of the game due to bad luck. These NPCs can side with either group during the game and assist them however.

Design Phase After sign-ups are done there will be a design phase, and phase 1 will start. Phase 1 will have each group present together and can plan how they want to position themselves or what equipment to use and where for the next phase. After this it's a usual objective game, go crazy. Phase Maximum and Reaching the Goal The game is set to end after a maximum of 17 phases (including phase 1). Certain things in game can be done to either extend or shorten this maximum. If the robbers escape from the building with the treasure before the maximum phase length is reached, they win. If the maximum phase length is reached and the robbers have not escaped the guards win. Dying and Sandboxes Players can't die during the game and if they lose all hearts will be sent to a jail located on the map. Robbers and Guards have their own jails. Players can be broken out if someone from their side breaks them out. This game is designed to have multiple ways to complete the objective in mind, whether it be by locking every robber up, stealing the treasure through violence, persuasion or whatever. The world is your sandbox, but keep in mind it does have limits. Sub-Areas Back from New JerZ and even more !moveinstanty from before. Create your own sub-areas on the map by rolling high enough for it. Players in a Sub-Area are hidden from other players in the same main area, and have the option to spy on other players while in the Sub-Area. Players can leave a Sub-Area mid phase as well without having to take a phase by using !moveinstant. Examples of a Sub-Area: A closet, some bushes, a trashcan. When entering or making a Sub-Area, use !do in the bot for the command. Depending on how you roll influences how obvious it is that you are in the area. (This is a free action)

However due to the fact we have 4 and a half npcs, I feel comfortable enough with the hosting side of things to add 2 more player slots

@Reactants We have 22 players, we are well over the maximum so I feel comfortable sending everyone their roles right now. When sending roles, I'll be using random.org to decide who gets what role. After all roles are out I'll either DM you, "Guard" or "Thief" depending on what the rng says. To remind you of what the criteria for each are...

No need to send personal objectives. This final step should last 24 hours, however because we are starting this step earlier than expected I am instead extending it to 34 hours to give everyone some extra time. In total both steps are still taking 48 hours total, so we're still on track.

We have 20/22 submitted characters so far, so I'm going to give the 2 who haven't submitted a little bit more time. However we are now in the game design phase, which will take a maximum of one week. I don't think it will take that long, so it's possible the game will start in the middle of the week.

Hello, progress update

6/21 roles are fully written with a few others in conceptual phases

Roughly speaking abilities are probably this games biggest hurdle, so once all of then are done it'll be smooth sailing

Because I do want to host a test game before hand, and the only time I'm available is 11/14th for one, the game will happen at the soonest after that test game, but design could possibly be done before that

Looks like you made it just in time. The news broadcast shows a man standing in front of a museum. The name of the reporter is Jimmy Chang. You've seen him on the news a lot.

"Thanks Barb. I'm standing here in front of the Museum of Natural History in New York City, where the new Gemstone Exhibit is opening to the public."

You move away from the TV and head towards a table with several papers on it. There, you pick up the map of the museum you were given yesterday and return to the TV.

You take a look at your map

"Several of these gemstones have significant historical value, however the most prestigious is the **Lustrous Orb**, which was recovered from Sarajevo, Bosnia. The gem had been present in the city during the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand decades ago, however it had disappeared during the day of the assassination. The reasons behind the disappearance has been widely speculated, with the prevailing theory being that the gem had been stolen by opportunistic thieves during the chaos. Only recently has the gem been rediscovered in Sarajevo in a sealed room in Sarajevo City Hall. How the orb was moved there after the assassination remains unknown."

Your boss wasn't kidding. By the looks of it that gem is just as valuable as he said. Unfortunately, it seems that your plans for the orb have been revealed to the guys you'll be having to deal with tonight.

That's fine, because you know what their plans are as well. How the hell both sides of this managed to get details about the heist is beyond you, but that's not important.

BREAKING NEWS

We are getting reports live that there is an ongoing situation at the Museum of Natural History

The situation is still unclear but there appears to be several intruders

Police have been dispatched and are expected to arrive within 12 phases

Current theories on the situation are that the trespassers are trying to steal the Queen's Crown, which has recently been put on loan at the museum. (edited)

We don't know what the situation in there is like, the power has been cut, the alarms are still blaring, and between you and me, I don't know how accurate any of the information coming in about the heist is accurate

I mean, I've never heard of some of these artifacts before in my life

It seems the err, Lustrous Orb, is the target?

Whatever the case, multiple alarms have reduced the response time to Phase 10

We are also getting reports of a helicopter hovering over the roof of the museum

Today is June 29th, 2014 and its time to start the day

The Museum of National History's gemstone exhibit has opened up today

Quite a few gems are on display, although most are standard fair

The increased amount of valuables present at the museum has prompted some to question if the security team is prepared to handle any potential break ins

Head of Security, Officer Uylmeda has claimed that they are confident that they will be able to handle any that happen

And now we have Jessica, with the weather...

Despite everything that happened on that night, the world has forgotten it

The fact of the matter is only those who were at the museum on that night remember how The Lustrous Orb had been stolen and removed from the Museum on Phase 8 by Postal Dude

Regardless, everyone still received their pay at the end

It seems the Thieves had won

The Head of Security slipped off as soon as the entire thing ended

...only after attending a Mets game

Regardless no one knows where she is or who Holder is

Whatever effects the Lustrous Orb had disappeared after that night

Its just an ordinary treasure now

@Plasman Character: Tobias Gregson Source: The Great Ace Attorney Ability: Scotland Yard's Finest Personal Objective: Somehow avoid receiving a negative report on myself after this event is said and done As a proper detective, you have the authority to collect evidence to prove someone committed a crime. This evidence can be in the form of physical evidence, or witness testimony. You can not provide witness testimony yourself, however if another player witnesses a crime and agrees to testify against them in court, that will be considered witness testimony. To make a witness testimony official, the witness must sign a paper saying they will testify. These papers will be in your inventory in an unlimited supply. Once you have collected both physical evidence and a witness testimony deposit both in the Archives, and the criminal will be sent to jail instantly, no matter what their current HP is. Strangely enough, it seems you can't convict any robbers present here of trespassing...

Postal Dude did it. His hatred for the Mets and love for the Pirates had fueled his desire to steal the orb. He now has the Lustrous Orb, and with it he moves to a new, hopefully more sane place of the world. He meets with a man named Roland, and the two enjoy a good sandwich.

@Calcium Character: Postal Dude Source: Postal Series Ability: Another Day In Paradise Its another day of living in this strange world. This heist and everyone present might make no sense, but that isn't an excuse to go on a murderous rampage right? Depending on your actions, you will be locked into either Pacifist or Maniac Mode. By default, you'll start in Pacifist Mode, and will have 4 hearts and take half the damage you should when attacked. Once you start acting violently towards anyone around you, you'll go into Maniac Mode, and can't return to Pacifist Mode again. In Maniac Mode, you'll go down to 2 hearts, take normal damage, however you'll do 1.75x the damage on attacks.

Where the fuck did Gaius go? He had the powers of the Dream Stone, but after the Heist he disappeared. At least, not before a celebratory feast with the other Thieves. Whoever showed up to that feast, is unknown.

@Gaius, Wishmaker Character: Gaius Source: Fire Emblem Awakening Ability: Sweet Stealing Objective: Wish on the Dream Stone. You're always on the lookout for any candy to steal, and luckily it seems there is plenty in this museum. Every time you search something on the map, you have a 50% chance to find candy along with whatever you find through searching. Eating candy will restore 1 heart. However, the candy is so sugary that if anyone but you eats it, they will receive a -2 roll debuff next phase due to a sugar crash.

Locke Lamora had fooled at least someone during this ordeal. He may not have gotten the biggest treasure, but the Dream Stone will make a fine addition to the Gentleman Bastards' collection of treasures.

@Fluoride Character: Locke Lamora Source: Gentleman Bastard Sequence Ability: Master of Disguise Objective: Convince another character to give me something of value, in a way that involves lying A good conman always needs a good disguise. While others would have trouble getting past body scanners, all you'd need to fool one is the uniform. If you obtain a security guard's uniform and wear it, any guard only privileges will be granted to you.

Norman Stansfield had done what he does best, get high and shoot people

Despite the reality warping adventure, it was an average day for him

@Hydronium Cluster Dragon Character: Norman Stansfield Source: Leon the Professional Ability: Librium The conductor of an orchestra must always be in perfect condition before the performance. Without Librium, there would be no way for you to play Beethoven. You start the game with 3 pills of Librium. Taking one pill is a free action, and after taking the pill you'll be able to brutalize anyone you come into contact with a 1.75x damage multiplier.

Fearne Calloway wasn't sure what had happened, but she managed to escape from the police after the heist. She's free to do whatever she wants now, and whatever adventures await her now remain to be seen

@Fearne Calloway Character: Fearne Calloway Source: Critical Role Ability: Wildshape Being a Druid, you have the ability to turn into beasts. You have two uses of this ability. Once you've expended them, you will need 2 phases to use these ability again. Dire Wolf Form - In this form you have four hearts, and deal 1.5 hearts of damage with your attacks. In this form you get a +2 roll bonus if you attack in conjunction with your allies. Wildfire Spirit - Instead of assuming a beast form, you can expend one use of Wildshape to summon a Wildfire Spirit. The Wildfire Spirit obeys your commands and attacks with you, and has 0.75 hearts of health. Any attacks it does will deal 0.25 hearts of damage. It dissipates after 3 phases if it's not killed before then.

JC Denton was tired after the heist. He was told this museum gig would only be a temporary assignment, but it the entire gig had been mind numbingly terrible. He wandered the streets of New York, until he reached the Statue of Liberty.

@Soy Sauce Character: JC Denton Source: Deus Ex Ability: Spy Drone One of the Nano Augs you have on you is the Spy Drone mod. It can be used to spy on another room, and let off an EMP attack. You can control where the drone moves to each phase it is active. An EMP attack will do 0.25 hearts of damage to any players you target, and can also disable any equipment you target as well for one phase.

Former Detective, Bubble Man had quit being a detective. The museum gig only got him killed. At least he thinks he died, he isn't sure. He moved to the Aevium Region with Saki, and became a gym leader.

@Hydronium Cluster Dragon Character: Detective Bubbleman Source: Bioshock Mafia/ Megaman Ability: Night X, Bubble Lead [Player] Personal Objective: break the fucking orb You might have failed at taking down the mafia yourself, but you're still a detective at heart. Just send Mystery Bot Night X, Phase X, Bubble Lead [Player] to investigate a player. By investigating a player, you can learn something about them, such as parts of their ability. You will always learn whether or not someone is a good or a bad person from an investigation. If an investigated person is a bad person, you'll gain a +3 roll boost for any actions against them

Clancy enjoyed the heist surprisingly. He had some nice spacecasts with Ram and even got a book on the Meaning of Life out of everything. Sure, the book makes no sense, but that just means there's some meaning to get out of it.

@Clancy Character: Clancy Gilroy Source: The Midnight Gospel Ability: Spacecasting You're experienced with spacecasting enough to the point where you can hold an interview even during a heist. You can interview a player at any point for your spacecast about something personal to them, such as a secret or what their ability is, and if you're lucky that player might be so caught up in the conversation they'll accidentally reveal it to everyone in the room listening to the podcast.

Garrett left the museum with quite a large haul. A few gems, AND half of the orb. This is... exactly just enough for one week of rent. It seems he'll have to keep stealing to keep up with the rent payments...

@Garrett Character: Garret Source: Thief Ability: Scouting Orbs Objective: Steal at least 3 items that originate in the museum, not as big of a steal as the pearl, but the situation has changed One of the items at your disposal for this heist are Scouting Orbs. You can only use one orb on the map at once, and the orb will give you clear spying into whatever room the orb is in without any filter. However, depending on how you roll, the orb may be well hidden or extremely visible to those in the room. If the orb is destroyed, you can toss out a new one afterwards.

Sasaki had his new Master, Rikki Takanashi, and was finally able to leave the Ryuudou Temple after all this time. The Master and Servant went back to Japan, and deal with their everyday lives together.

@Sasaki Kojirou Character: Sasaki Kojirou Source: Fate/stay night Ability: Role of the Servant Caster is nowhere to be found, and yet somehow you find yourself inside of this museum, with the entire Ryuudou Temple inside of it. You still can not leave the temple grounds due to your contract, however you are free to break it and forge a new one at any time, with anyone you choose. Both of you must explicitly agree to this contract. Once you are contracted, you are free to move around as you wish. Any action you do that your new master commands you to do will gain a +4 roll boost.

Ram begrudgingly brought along

The group takes their seats, and prepare to watch

DIANE IS SHOOTING INTO THE FIELD AT THE METS

The group stares in shock at this, except Cella?

Where the hell did she go?

An announcer, still in their booth during the game proudly proclaims

THE PONY UP TO BAT HITS A HOMERUN

During the chaos, Cella had managed to get on the field, and hits a homerun

The group cheers as Cella runs around the diamond

After all this chaos, there's no better way to relax than with a Mets Game!

Lord Hater hadn't done much during the Heist, but hey, he doesn't need to. He's just that cool after all.

@lord hater Character: Lord Hater Source: Wander Over Yonder Ability: Pure Anger You'll do anything to make sure everything in the galaxy is yours. Your anger is your strength, so if you are angry you'll become stronger. While you are calm, you can fire off lightning bolts that do 1 heart of damage, or deploy a forcefield to protect you or anyone you choose that will negate 0.5 hearts of damage. If you are angry, your bolts will deal 1.5 hearts of damage, and you can negate up to 0.75 hearts of damage, and protect an additional person. When sending your action, also send in your justification for being angry as well.

Officer Majima started as a guard at first, but over time their role was more like a terrorist. He broke some legs, got into a fight, and called in a bomb threat. He escaped the museum, and continues looking out for legs to break to this day

@Last night I 🤵🍔 your sister Character: Officier Majima Source: Yakuza Kiwami Ability: Stop and Frisk You've heard rumors of dangerous individuals present at this museum for a heist. Although that's bad, the weapons they are carrying are even more dangerous. You can check to see if someone has some sort of weapon on them by frisking them, and if they do you'll enter a one on one fight with them that other players can not interfere with. The fight ends only when one of you are defeated.

@U-236 Character: Diane Yamam Source: OC Ability: Shouldn't Have Gotten the Vaccine Using your knowledge on 5G chips, you're able to steal 5 words said by players each phase. If a word is stolen that player is unable to say this word unless they pay a ransom back to you. You can specify what specific ransom payment you want, as long as it is reasonably achievable. You cannot steal words you said during the phase.

@Maackvolo Character: Tohru Adachi Source: Persona 4 Ability: Midnight Channel Objective: Feel what it's like to kill someone. You're knowledge of the Midnight Channel allows you to use any TV in the area to your benefit. If there is a TV in the area, you can !moveinstant into it and access The Backside of the TV. From there you can !moveinstant to other areas with a TV in it. Only you can access The Backside of the TV, however you can "invite" players into it with an action. Players aside from you inside the TV will take passive damage over time, and can only leave if they roll high enough to escape.

@Cella Character: Cella Source: OC/MLP Ability: Sharing is Magic Objective: host a motherfuckin PARTYYY So you ditched protecting things to get drunk and eat snacks. It might not have been the best idea, but at least the food and drinks are pretty damn good. You can can conjure up some food or drinks for yourself or those around you. Consuming these will restore 0.75 hearts. You can only create one consumable per phase.

@Weird-Smelling Ash Pile Character: GourdCop Source: JerryTerry Ability: LET ME HELP It looks like you're trying to pull off a museum heist. Let me help. You can choose to help any player with their action that phase, and give them a +3 roll boost. After helping someone with their action, on the next phase you may send in a word or phrase that you would expect to be in their action, as well as a word or phrase that you'd like to replace it with. If you guess correctly, you and your victim gain a +5 bonus to both of your rolls. If you guess incorrectly, you gain a -5 to your current roll, and you may not use this ability next phase.

Sunlight Spear deals 1.5 damage with 1 soul split and 2 damage with 2 soul splits. You will also roll with a d10. When rolling a dice other than a d20, the maximum will still count as a crit success, however the odds of you getting a crit success or crit failure are different from the traditional 5%.

Metallica: Your stand Metallica, allows you to manipulate iron. It doesn't seem like anyone here is made out of iron, but you can still manipulate any iron in the environment to your liking. However, due to the nature of your stand, any chemical reactions that can affect iron will also affect you in the same way.

As an Alkali Metal you only have one valence electron, making you extremely and violently reactive. You can form an ionic bond with any Halogen in the same area as you, and allow you access to the Bondage Bros Group DM. If there are multiple possible ionic bonds that can be formed in one area, the one that has the highest lattice energy takes priority. Please Keep That Foil On: As mentioned earlier, you're extremely reactive. When you do react with something, you'll release a large amount of heat that will deal 2 hearts of damage to anyone in the area.

Hydrides: Formed in situations where hydrogen acts as an anion and holds a negative charge. Typically act as strong bases and strong reducing agents. Form readily with alkali metals such as Potassium, or other alkaline earth metals such as Beryllium or Calcium. Normal metals such as Iron or Nickel would also work. Water: An essential part of organic life. All you need is some oxygen to form this. Deuterium: If you're feeling lonely, you can always grab a neutron to create deuterium. Functionally, you're still about the same, but it's a significant enough of a change to be treated differently. Strong Bones for a Strong Life: Calcium is an essential element required for life. When its not involved in neural signaling pathways its often found in the bones. By absorbing more calcium, your bones will also become stronger too. The stronger your bones, the less damage you'll take as well! Be careful though, if you come into contact with an element that's similar to calcium, you'll end up absorbing some of that element instead, which could be very harmful. When consuming calcium, you'll take 0.75x less damage at first, until you reach 0x.

Bromine was unsure of what they should do. They aren't sure if they became a bro or not, and although they were able to react violently with someone, no one really believed they were so sauce either. I guess they can only take credit for half of this reaction.

Traits: Halogen: You have 7 valence electrons, why don't you go steal another? You can form an ionic bond with any Alkali Metals or Alkaline Earth Metals in the same room as you. In this bond, you'll be sent to the Bondage Bros Channel. Access to the channel lasts for as long as you're in contact with the Alkali Metal or Alkaline Earth Metal. If there are other elements capable of forming an ionic bond around you, the one that forms with the highest lattice energy takes priority. Extremely Reactive?: Due to only having 7 valence electrons, you have a tendency to just react with anything. This can result in some very explosive results, so for the safety of those around you and yourself, you have a small glass ampoule that prevents you from reacting to release a small explosion of energy. Strangely enough, maybe you could use this ability to help others? If you form an organobromine, or a compound containing Bromine and Carbon, you can react in a fire to take away some of the free radicals to stop the combustion reaction.

High Conductivity: You're naturally good at conducting electricity through yourself, and act as a good conductor. If you come across something emitting high amounts of electricity, you can use it without getting damaged, and you can channel the electricity to attack others as well, dealing 1 heart of damage.

Traits: Alkaline Earth Metal: You're the less reactive version of your Alkali Metal buddies with only two valence electrons. Access to the channel lasts for as long as you're in contact with the Halogen. If there are other elements capable of forming an ionic bond, the bond that forms with the highest lattice energy will take priority. Perfectly Safe Night Light: Despite being decently radioactive, most people are attracted to how brightly you glow. Because of this, you can temporarily increase your luminescence at any time to let people in other areas know you're there. However, anyone currently in the area you're in will take a small amount of damage due to the radiation.

Once you come into meet up with Hydrogeddon and Duoterion, you can all bond together to form Water Dragon Cluster. Natural Abundance: You're everywhere. Seriously, Hydrogen is one of the most abundant elements in the universe, so of course there'd be a lot of you. And I mean, A LOT, of you. Each time you destroy an item, thing, or kill a player, you'll make another copy of yourself. Depending on how many copies you currently have, you can use them to either heal yourself, or boost your roll. The conversion rate is as follows... 1 Hydrogeddon = 0.125 hearts = +1 on a roll = 0 quid

Character: Oxygeddon Objective: Find Duoterion and bond into Water Dragon Cluster Traits: Bonding: No, not the chemical type, although this isn't too far off from it. Once you come into meet up with Hydrogeddon and Duoterion, you can all bond together to form Water Dragon Cluster. Oxidative Stress: Using the power of oxygen, you've become a potent oxidizing agent. If you come across a material that can be oxidized, like wood or hydrogen gas, you can oxidize them release energy in the form of a fire. This fire will damage you for 1 heart, or either completely destroy whatever object you oxidized/deal 1 heart of damage to the character you oxidized.

Try as they could, Uranium was unable to get Hydrogen's attention

Maybe it was the mass frog genocide, or maybe it was the fact that Hydrogen was too busy with their movies, Uranium just couldn't get a hold of them

Who needs a Hydrogen Bomb when Uranium would work just as well?

And so, Uranium got to work on yet another nuclear explosion

Character: Uranium Objective: Cause the ecological destruction of the entire game area. Traits: Unrefined: Despite being known for radioactivity, your most plentiful isotope is U238, which is only weakly radioactive. In order to become extremely radioactive, you'll have to undergo refinement to reach U235. To do this, you'll need Fluorine to form Uranium Hexafluoride. You can accomplish this by simply being in the same room as Fluorine. To enrich the Uranium Hexafluoride, you must use a gas centrifuge. Afterwards, you'll become refined U235 and unlock the trait Decay Series Heavy Nucleus: You got a large nucleus, so you should be able to take some more damage as well

Decay Series: Your unstable nucleus will cause you to decay overtime into other elements. This decay will release large amounts of energy that can destabilize other elements or biological organisms, dealing damage to them. Each decay will carry a different amount of energy released depending on what element you are about to decay into, until you reach a stable isotope of another element, when you will no longer be radioactive. To begin the decay, first get hit with neutron. Otherwise the process will start after two phases.
